Four members of a retired teachers family found dead in Rangpur home

Police discovered the bodies of four family members inside a three-story residence in the Mashuapara area of Kamal Kachna in Rangpur city on Saturday night. Authorities suspect the victims were murdered several days ago.

The deceased have been identified as Ganapati Chakraborty, a 65-year-old retired teacher from Rangpur Zilla School, his 50-year-old wife Pritilata Chakraborty, their 28-year-old daughter, also named Pritilata Chakraborty, and their 14-year-old son, Agami Chakraborty.

Local residents and police located the bodies at approximately 8:30 p.m. after detecting a foul odor emanating from the building. The family resided on the second floor of the property.

Inspector Abu Hasan Kabir of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) confirmed the recovery of the bodies and noted that the residence has been cordoned off for a forensic investigation. Officials suggested that the victims were targeted and killed by unidentified assailants.

Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station, A.K.M. Nazmul Quader, stated that preliminary investigations indicate the homicides likely occurred two to three days prior to the discovery. Law enforcement remains on the scene as the investigation into the circumstances of the deaths continues.
