Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed orders improved public services during surprise inspection of Tejgaon Police Station

Home Minister Salauddin Ahmed conducted an unannounced inspection of the Tejgaon Police Station in the capital on Saturday, issuing strict directives to ensure that citizens receive efficient and transparent police services.

The Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed the visit through an official press release issued later that evening. The minister was accompanied by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, and Additional Commissioner and Chief of the Detective Branch Md. Shafiqul Islam.

During the visit, the Home Minister evaluated the overall law and order situation, the station’s infrastructure, and the quality of services provided to the public. He toured the administrative offices, the duty officer’s room, investigation chambers, and the detention cells. Furthermore, he inspected the police barracks and the dining facilities to assess the living conditions of the officers.

Addressing the police personnel, Minister Ahmed provided specific instructions regarding the maintenance of hygiene, food quality in the mess, and the rigorous management of shift schedules, including nighttime duties.

The minister also engaged directly with citizens present at the station to file General Diaries or complaints. He listened to the grievances of the public and instructed the Officer-in-Charge and relevant staff to ensure that all complaints are resolved promptly and with complete transparency.

Highlighting the role of law enforcement, Minister Ahmed emphasized that the primary responsibility of the police is to provide protection and service to the public. He stated that police stations must serve as places of trust and confidence for the people, adding that the government is committed to ensuring an environment where citizens can visit stations fearlessly and present their issues directly without the need for intermediaries.
