Impersonators posing as police officers rob bank agent of 1.2 million taka in Noakhali

Unidentified assailants posing as members of the Detective Branch (DB) of the police robbed a bank agent of 1.2 million BDT in Companiganj upazila of Noakhali on Monday. The incident occurred near the M. Majidia Government Primary School in Ward 1 of Charhazari union during the afternoon.
The victim, Abdur Rahman, is the in-charge of the Abu Madina outlet of Islami Bank. Rahman stated that he was traveling by motorcycle toward his destination after withdrawing 1.2 million BDT from the bank branch between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. As he reached the west side of the M. Majidia Government Primary School, a private car blocked his path, and a group of five individuals intercepted him.
According to Rahman, the assailants identified themselves as detective police officers and falsely accused him of possessing narcotics. They held him at gunpoint, handcuffed him, and forced him into their vehicle. Inside the car, the suspects reportedly blindfolded him with a cloth, assaulted him, and seized the 1.2 million BDT. The perpetrators later abandoned the victim, still handcuffed and blindfolded, near Nabir Dokan in Kabirhat upazila before fleeing the scene.
Local witnesses reported seeing five individuals—some wearing black jackets and others in plain clothes—surround Rahman, who was wearing a white panjabi, before forcing him into the private car at gunpoint.

Police are currently working to identify the suspects and recover the stolen funds. Authorities noted that while an investigation is underway, the victim has not yet filed a formal written complaint.
