Eight Injured After Passenger Bus Overturns Near Padma Bridge in Munshiganj

Eight passengers were injured on Monday after a passenger bus overturned on the slope of the Padma Bridge in the Mawa area of Louhajang Upazila, Munshiganj.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. when a New Greenline Express bus, traveling from Magura to Dhaka, lost control after crossing the Padma Bridge. Surveillance footage of the incident shows the vehicle striking the right-side railing of the bridge before spinning and colliding with the left-side railing, subsequently overturning on the slope.
Local fire service units were alerted to the crash at 1:37 p.m. Two rescue teams from the Srinagar Fire Station were deployed to the scene to extricate the passengers from the wreckage. The injured were transported by ambulance to the Srinagar Upazila Health Complex.
The injured have been identified as Saifullah, 80, and Lutfar Rahman, 63, both from Magura Sadar; Fatema Akter, 7, of Mohammadpur; Saif, 23, of Sripur; Arafat, 13, of Madhukhali, Faridpur; Rebeka Khatun, 40, of Alamdanga, Chuadanga; and Nur Islam, 46, and Rashida Begum, 40, both of Damurhuda, Chuadanga.
Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Deputy Assistant Director of the Munshiganj Fire Service, confirmed that rescue operations were completed shortly after the teams arrived at the site.
Dr. Tanjim Tamanna, an emergency physician at the Srinagar Health Complex, reported that the patients arrived for treatment between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. One of the passengers, Nur Islam, was subsequently transferred to a hospital in Dhaka for advanced medical care.
