A father and son died within ninety minutes of each other on Sunday night in a tragic sequence of events in the Khilgram area of Barhal Union, located in the Zakiganj Upazila of Sylhet.
Thirty-eight-year-old Masuk Ahmed, who recently married, died after suffering a fatal electric shock while working at Nusrat Lighting, a business establishment situated near the Shahgali bus stand. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Upon receiving the news of his son’s sudden death, Masuk’s father, 67-year-old Abdul Latif, collapsed and fell critically ill. He succumbed to his condition at approximately 8:00 p.m. Local officials and family members indicated that the elder man likely suffered a fatal heart attack induced by the shock of his son’s passing.

Officer-in-Charge of Zakiganj Police Station, Muhammad Abdur Razzaq, described the incident as heartbreaking. He confirmed that the family had submitted a formal request to bury Masuk Ahmed without a post-mortem examination, and the authorities subsequently released the bodies to the family.
