Dhaka to Install 50 Automated Traffic Signals at Cost of 1 Billion Taka to Improve Road Order

Authorities in Dhaka have launched an initiative to install 50 automated traffic signal systems across the capital in a bid to curb persistent gridlock and restore order on city roads. The project, estimated at approximately 1 billion taka, averages a cost of 20 million taka per signal installation.
Officials clarified that the allocated budget extends beyond the mere installation of signal lights. The funds are earmarked for a comprehensive infrastructure upgrade, which includes the construction of signal poles, foundations, and steel fencing.
The project further encompasses electrical connectivity, the establishment of control rooms for traffic police, and necessary road excavation works. Additionally, the investment will facilitate the procurement of advanced technological equipment, including surveillance cameras, control boxes, and tablet devices, designed to modernize traffic management and enforcement in the metropolitan area.
