Bangladesh secured a commanding One-Day International series victory against New Zealand, largely due to the exceptional performances of pace bowler Nahid Rana. Rana’s dynamic bowling and consistent wicket-taking were pivotal in the team’s triumph, culminating in him earning the Player of the Series award.

However, a minor injury sustained during the final ODI on Thursday briefly raised concerns. While fielding near the boundary during the third match at the Shaheed Mohtaram Bir Shrestho Stadium in Chattogram, Rana’s right hand was cut by a nail on an advertising board. The wound was quickly bandaged and thankfully did not require stitches.

Dr. Debashish Chowdhury, head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) medical department, confirmed that the injury is not serious. He expressed optimism that Rana will resume bowling within a few days.

Throughout the ODI series, Rana proved a formidable challenge for New Zealand’s batsmen, claiming eight wickets across three matches and rightfully securing the Player of the Series accolade.

Following the conclusion of the ODI series, Rana has returned to Bangladesh. He was not included in the squad for the upcoming Twenty20 International series. Furthermore, the BCB has not issued him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The BCB has emphasized a cautious approach regarding Rana’s recovery. The board is prioritizing his complete readiness for the forthcoming Test series against Pakistan, with his focus solely on preparation for red-ball cricket.
