A 38-year-old groundskeeper at the University of Dhaka died Tuesday morning after being struck in the head by a falling jackfruit while working on the university campus.

The victim, identified as Chiyakul, also known as Ujjwal, was performing routine maintenance at the Rokeya Hall provost’s bungalow when the accident occurred. According to his colleague Sunil Chauhan, the two men were harvesting fruit from a tree in the hall’s garden. Chiyakul was standing on a table, attempting to dislodge a jackfruit with a bamboo pole, when the fruit struck another jackfruit in the same tree, causing the latter to plummet directly onto his head.
