Three Employees Injured in Dhaka Hardware Store Fire

Three employees were hospitalized with burn injuries on Monday following a fire triggered by an electrical short circuit at a hardware store in the Bangshal area of Dhaka. The incident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. at M.R. Enterprise Power Tools, located on Tekerhat Lane.
The victims—identified as 25-year-old Mirajul Islam, 20-year-old Md. Ifat Hossain, and 26-year-old Rocky Hossain—were working inside the shop at the time of the blast. Store manager Rafin Hossain stated that the business had been closed for several days due to the Eid holidays. He suspects that gas may have accumulated within the warehouse during the closure, igniting instantly when Ifat Hossain attempted to turn on the electricity.
The three men were rushed to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for emergency care. According to Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident physician at the institute, the severity of the burns varies among the victims. Mirajul Islam sustained burns on 2 percent of his body, while Rocky Hossain and Ifat Hossain suffered more serious injuries, with 23 percent and 25 percent of their bodies burned, respectively. All three remain under medical observation at the facility.
