Health Minister revokes Ad-din Hospital license following newborn deaths alleging bribery attempts

Health Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan has announced the cancellation of the operational license for Ad-Din Hospital in Dhaka’s Moghbazar area, following the deaths of six newborns at the facility.
The decision comes amidst allegations of serious negligence regarding the infants’ care. Addressing the controversy surrounding the hospital’s closure, the Health Adviser stated that he faced significant pressure and financial inducements from the institution’s management to allow them to continue operations.

He asserted that the hospital authorities had repeatedly attempted to influence his decision through monetary offers, which he explicitly rejected. The Adviser emphasized that his actions remain guided by the mandate provided by the Prime Minister, who has pledged full support for his efforts to ensure accountability within the healthcare sector.
The cancellation marks a decisive move by the health administration to address lapses in medical oversight and curb systemic failures in private hospital management. Officials have indicated that the suspension is final, prioritizing patient safety and institutional transparency over the influence of private entities.
