Health Directorate Revokes License of Dhaka Ad-din Hospital Following Newborn Deaths

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has revoked the operating license of Ad-din Hospital in Dhaka’s Moghbazar area following the deaths of six newborns at the facility. The decision was formally communicated to the hospital’s executive director, Sheikh Mohiuddin, in a letter issued on Thursday.

The regulatory action follows an investigation into the clinical oversight at the hospital. Authorities initiated the process after a probe committee identified systemic failures, leading to a show-cause notice being issued to the hospital administration. Health officials determined that the hospital’s response to these allegations was unsatisfactory, prompting the final decision to shutter the facility.

DGHS Director General Professor Provat Chandra Biswas has directed the hospital management to ensure the immediate and safe transfer of all patients currently under care to nearby medical facilities equipped to handle their needs.

While the license has been officially cancelled, the hospital retains the legal right to file an appeal against the decision. According to health department regulations, the administration must submit any such appeal within a 30-day window.
