Teacher killed in road accident, student died after hearing the news

A school teacher died in a road accident in Badalgachi upazila of Naogaon. Another school teacher was injured in that incident. A student died of a stroke after hearing the news of the teacher’s death while at school.
The name of the deceased school teacher is Umm Kulsoom (48). She is an assistant teacher at Badalgachi Labanyaprabha Community Girls High School. The deceased student has been identified as Tasnim Ara (13). She is an eighth grade student of the same school and daughter of Abul Kalam Chowdhury of Jagannathpur village of the upazila. The injured Mumtaz Khatun (50) is an assistant teacher of the same school. He is undergoing treatment at Badalgachi Upazila Health Complex.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, teachers Umm Kulsoom and Mumtaz Khatun left to go to the Rajshahi Education Board to collect the board examination report cards. At around one o’clock they were going to Mahadevpur upazila Sadar in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw from Badalgachi. On the way, their auto-rickshaw collided with the moving vehicle of paddy threshing machine coming from the opposite direction at Chakrail junction area of Badalgachi-Mataji road. Two autorickshaw teachers were seriously injured. When they were rescued and taken to Badalgachi Upazila Health Complex, the doctor declared Umme Kulsoom dead.
Meanwhile, Tasnim Ara, an eighth grade student of the school, fell ill after hearing the news of the teacher’s death. Immediately the teachers and classmates took him to Badalgachi Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared him dead.
Badalgachi Upazila Health Complex’s emergency department doctor Shamim Yasar said, “Teacher Umm Kulsoom was brought to the hospital around 1:20 p.m.” He died before being taken to the hospital. He had severe head injuries. Student Tasnim Ara was taken to the hospital around 1:50 p.m. I believe that he died due to sudden severe emotional shock due to disruption of blood flow to the brain or cardiac arrest.
Jahangir Alam, principal of Labanyaprabha Girls’ High School, said, “The death of teacher Umm Kulsoom and student Tasnim Ara has cast a shadow of grief on everyone in the school. We are all speechless. I cannot accept such a death.
Badalgachi Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Nazrul Islam confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the mobile vehicle of the paddy threshing machine and the auto-rickshaw due to the accident were seized and taken into police custody. So far no complaint has been received in this incident.
