The body of Sohan Hussain (18) arrived in the country five days after he was shot dead by miscreants in South Africa. His coffin-bound body reached his house in Chikonmati village of Kashipur union of Ranishankail upazila of Thakurgaon on Tuesday afternoon.
Earlier, Sohan was killed at his workplace in Johannesburg’s Ketlehong area last Thursday night. After hearing the news of his death, mother Shahinur Akhtar expressed her desire to see her son’s face for a moment.

Shahinur Aktar had said earlier that he wanted to see his son’s face for the last time, wanted to take the last bath with his own hands, requesting to bring Sohan’s body to the country.
Shahinur was taken there with the help of relatives after the coffined body arrived yesterday afternoon. Speechless, he looked at his son’s face for a while and said, ‘Father, are you sleeping? He broke down in tears at one stage.

Family members said that Shahinur was waiting for his son’s body for several days. He is physically weak due to lack of food and sleep.
On January 10 this year, Sohan went to South Africa in the hope of family prosperity. There he worked at his uncle Sirajul Islam’s grocery store in the Ketlehong area near Johannesburg. Last Thursday around 9 pm, while preparing to close the shop, miscreants came and opened fire. Sohan was killed on the spot.
The next day after the incident, a relative named Rashed called and told that Sohan was in the hospital. Later, through another expatriate, the family confirmed that Sohan was no longer alive.
The body was picked up on a Turkish Airlines flight last Sunday evening local time in South Africa. Arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early yesterday morning. Later, Sohan’s body reached his home around 4 pm. After the funeral in a local madrasa in the afternoon, the burial was done in the cemetery next to the house around 5:30.
Sohan’s uncle. Manik said, everyone in the family wanted Sohan to continue his education. But he was adamant about going abroad. Even though he had a dream of earning for his family, that dream was not fulfilled. He commented, ‘Sohan could not send the money, we have no problem with it. If he had returned alive, that would have been the greatest achievement.
The family thanked those concerned saying that with the help of expatriate Bangladeshis, it was possible to bring the body to the country quickly.
Sohan’s father Dulal Hossain is also devastated by losing his son. However, he accepted the reality and said, ‘I will never get my son back. Being able to see his face for the last time, this is our peace.
