Samia at the morgue from brother’s wedding preparations, what happened

“She was a piece of my liver. I had a smile on my face. But now it’s all over. Why did they do this to me? The girl was forcibly taken away. No one was hurt, but the girl died. It is not an accident. Nasima Sultana burst into tears while saying these words. Sometimes words get stuck, sometimes trying to say again while wiping tears. He cannot accept the fact that his daughter Samia Jahan is no longer alive.
Samia died in a ‘road accident’ on the elevated expressway of Chittagong city on Thursday afternoon. He was in a private car. A young man named Saidul Alam (23) was driving the car. According to the police, the car was moving at a reckless speed. At one point, Samia got a serious head injury after colliding with the road divider. Later he died. His body is now in Chittagong Medical College Mortuary.
Samia’s mother Nasima Sultana broke down again and again while talking about her daughter at Prothom Alo on Friday afternoon. Samia’s last few days came back to his words. He said, “My eldest son works in Saudi Arabia. He is on vacation. His marriage is on 30 April. Marriage preparations were going on at home. How much Samia was expecting, will rejoice in her elder brother’s marriage. Practiced the dance for three days last Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. At 10 o’clock last night, the name was being written on the invitation card. His uncle was saying, your writing is as beautiful as the poet’s writing. That girl is not there today. None of us can accept this.
Samia’s mother said that they do not know the young man with whom Samia went to Patenga. He saw the day of admission to college. Didn’t see it again after that. But heard, the boy is a foreigner. He also said, ‘I have not seen what has been done to my daughter. My elder son and son-in-law are still in the police station. The body is still kept in the refrigerator. Not brought home.’
Hazera studied economics at Tju Degree College in Samia Nagar. She was a graduate student. Her mother Nasima Sultana said, “Yesterday, Samia went to the college to take the exam. A boy took him. Everyone says road accident. The boy was fine, but my daughter died. How is this possible?’ He said in a tearful voice, ‘Samiya was very talented. He used to read regularly. How many dreams I had about him… today it all ended.’
Nasima Sultana, a housewife by profession, has three daughters and one son. Samia was loved by everyone. Samia’s father. Abu Taleb Patwari was working in a government institution, now retired. Although their original home is Chandpur, the family lives in Rahattarpool area of Chittagong city.
According to the police, Samia went to Patenga in the afternoon in a private car. On the way back from there, the vehicle lost control at the Fakirhat section of the elevated expressway around 2 pm. The vehicle, which was speeding recklessly, first hit the road divider hard, then hit the guardrail. Samia suffered a serious head injury. Later he died.
But after the accident, Samia’s body was found lying on the road. The spot is under Bandar police station. After receiving the information, Deputy Inspector (SI) Ershad Mia spoke to the witnesses. He told Prothom Alo that there were two people in the car. After the accident, some witnesses took Samia out of the car and put her on the road. Later both of them were taken to the hospital. Ershad Mia said that the family members are preparing to file a case. The details of the incident will be known after the investigation. No definite conclusion has been reached yet.
Police say that there is inconsistency in the statement of Saidul Alam, the driver of the car. He is from Qatar. He gives different information about when he returned to the country – sometimes three months, sometimes two months ago. He is currently in the police station.
After the incident, Saidul told reporters while sitting at Chittagong Medical College Hospital yesterday, “A car recklessly passed me. I got scared. I could not control the steering of the car. Later the first road divider collided. Then hit the railing. Samia was hit on the head.
