RAB operation in three districts, illegal storage of 50 thousand liters of oil detected

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has conducted operations in three districts of the country to prevent the artificial crisis of fuel and edible oil. In this operation conducted through eight mobile courts, about 50,000 liters of oil was detected.

At the same time, a fine of Tk 3 lakh 61 thousand 200 has been collected through the mobile court due to various irregularities.

RAB said in a press release today that these raids were conducted in Chittagong, Sirajganj and Faridpur districts on Friday.

RAB said in a press release that raids were conducted at six places in Chittagong and at Salanga in Sirajganj and Kotwali police station in Faridpur. These included flats and private warehouses in Hathajari, Karnaphuli’s Moizzartek Bazar, Sadarghat and Medical Road areas of the city and a few residential buildings.

During this time, illegally stored 45 thousand 549 liters of octane, petrol, diesel and edible oil were recovered. The traveling court imposed a fine of Tk 330,000 on six companies for lack of fire fighting system, production of oil in unhealthy environment and illegal stockpiling. In addition, 1 thousand 500 liters of expired oil were seized, according to the press release.

RAB also said that two people were sentenced to two months imprisonment for illegally storing 700 liters of diesel and 500 liters of petrol in Salanga area of ​​Sirajganj. Besides, each of them was fined 100 rupees.

According to the press release, a fine of Tk 30,000 was imposed for illegally storing fuel at a petrol pump in Faridpur’s Kotwali police station. In the same raid, a rider was fined Tk 1,000 for carrying extra fuel on a motorcycle.

RAB said that such operations against hoarders and black marketeers who are causing instability in the market will continue. Regular patrolling, intelligence surveillance and raiding activities have also been strengthened to maintain law and order situation.
