President of the new committee of BES is Tahmeed, General Secretary Jahangir

The new executive committee of Bangladesh Earthquake Society (BES) has been formed for the period 2026-2028. Professor Tahmeed Malik Al-Hussaini was elected as the president of the committee. And the secretary general was elected professor Md. Jahangir Alam.
This information was informed in a press release of the organization on Monday. Earlier last Saturday, Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) Dr. to form a new executive committee. The election was held in the seminar room of JRC Civil Engineering building.
Elections are contested between the two for the post of President and the incumbents for the other posts are elected unopposed. Voting is done in person and online.
Daffodil International University Vice-Chancellor Professor MR Kabir and members Rupak Mutsuddi and Rafiqul Islam announced the election results.
BES, formed to play an active role in earthquake risk reduction, started its journey in 2002 under the chairmanship of Late Professor Jamilur Reza Chowdhury.
According to the announced results, Syed Ashraf ul Islam and Abdul Latif Khan were elected as vice presidents in the newly elected committee. Apart from this, Professor Mohammad Al Amin Siddiqui was elected as Treasurer and Professor Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed as Editor.
Six more were elected as executive members of the committee. They are Md. Abdul Malek Sikder, Professor Mohammad Shariful Islam, Syed Mahfuz Ahmed, Mohammad Mahbubul Alam (Nayan), Mohammad Anwar Hossain and Muhammad Mahbubul Alam.
