Police uniforms are changing again

Amidst the ongoing discussion and criticism regarding the change in the color of the Bangladesh Police uniform, an initiative has been taken to determine the new color. According to the new decision, it is proposed to bring back the combination of dark blue and light olive (olive) colors in police uniforms.
For this purpose, a proposal to amend the ‘Police Dress Rules, 2025’ has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Recently, the additional DIG of the logistics branch of the police headquarters. This proposal was informed in a letter signed by Sarwar Jahan.
According to the letter, as per the SRO issued earlier, the police shirt was changed from dark gray and pants from dark blue to ‘iron colour’ and pants ‘coffee colour’. However, there was an adverse reaction among the policemen with this change at the field level. Wide discussions started inside and outside the army about this. Later, senior police officials reviewed the samples of different colors and selected new colors in consultation with the Home Ministry.
According to the new proposal, all Metropolitan police shirts will be light olive. However, apart from APBN, SPBN, SB, CID and RAB, the shirt color of other police units will be dark blue. In both cases, the color of the pants has been specified as ‘TC Twill Khaki’.
Several amendments have been proposed to the ‘Police Dress Rules, 2025’ to implement this change. A draft has also already been sent for issuance of notification.
According to the concerned sources, as the supply of uniforms is based on availability, this change will not incur any additional financial cost to the government. The concerned authorities have been requested to take necessary measures in this regard.
