“Many children of the present generation do not get the opportunity to know history freely. So I came here with my children. They looked at different rooms and old things with great interest. Apart from spending time with family during Eid holidays, there is also an opportunity to learn about history. Children’s interest in learning increases when they come to such a place.
The words were spoken by Eva Akter. Lives in Jatrabari of the capital. He came to visit the historical Ahsan Manzil in Old Dhaka on Saturday with his two children Limon and Ayan. I spoke with Eva there. He showed the two children around Ahsan Manzil while talking.
The third day of the holy Eid-ul-Azha was Saturday. Like the previous two days, there was a crowd of visitors at the various historical buildings and sightseeing places of the capital. Ahsan went to Manzil in the afternoon and saw the same picture. The entire premises was bustling with visitors. Some are taking pictures, some have brought their families. Looking around.
Ridwan Hossain Sabit came from South Banshri. He is studying in class 10. Father Sanwar Hossain, mother Taslima Khatun and younger sister Sadia Hossain came with him.
Sabit said, he learned about Ahsan Manzil from the textbook. Since then I have wanted to see. Today that wish has been fulfilled.
When asked what he saw, Sabit replied, “I saw many old and historical things.” I learned more information than what I read in the textbook. I was able to feel the history closely.
Another student of class 10 is Jiban Islam. He came with his family from Kamrangirchar in Keraniganj. Father Sonai Munsi, mother Ankhi Begum and two sisters Sonali and Maryam were with him.
It was not possible to visit the whole family as it was a little late to come from home. Entry to Ahsan Manzil is closed for visitors at 5 pm. So they looked around in a hurry. Even so, Jeevan says that he likes it very much.
Sonai Munsi, the father of life, said, ‘I went out with my family for Eid vacation. Brought here to introduce children to history and traditions. Couldn’t see everything well due to lack of time. I want to come again.
It is a perfect place to spend some time with family away from the busy life of the capital. At the same time, there is an opportunity to learn about the history and traditions of the country, said Ashraful Alam, who was visiting.
