Mymensingh’s former Awami League Member of Parliament Moslem Uddin passed away

Former Member of Parliament of Awami League in Mymensingh-6 (Fulbaria) seat. Muslim Uddin has passed away (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raziun). He breathed his last at a private hospital in Dhaka at around 11:30 am on Saturday. He was 88 years old.
His son and Fulbaria Upazila Awami League president Imdadul Haque confirmed the death of this former member of parliament. He confirmed his father’s death in his Facebook post and wrote, ‘Our father fell ill due to old age at the age of 88 and was admitted to the Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital and died there. Father’s funeral prayers tomorrow (Sunday) at 10 am at Mymensingh District Lawyers Association, at 3 pm at Fulbaria Government High School ground and at 5 pm at Alhaj Md. It will be held on the grounds of Muslim Uddin Orphanage. After the funeral, he will be buried at his home in Newgi Kushmail of the upazila.

According to party sources, Moslem Uddin was elected as a member of parliament as a candidate of Awami League in the third parliamentary elections of 1986, seventh in 1996, ninth in 2008, tenth in 2014 and eleventh in 2018. However, he was defeated by the party’s rebel candidate Malek Sarkar in the 2024 parliamentary elections. He was elected a member of the Constituent Assembly in the 1970 election before becoming a member of Parliament for five terms. In his professional life, lawyer Moslem Uddin served as the president of Mymensingh district Awami League and the president of Fulbaria upazila Awami League.
