A convoy carrying Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) for the northern region, came under attack in Sylhet’s Golapganj upazila on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred as Alam and other party leaders were departing the Golapganj municipal auditorium following a meeting with the families of those killed during the July mass uprising.

According to witnesses and NCP officials, the attack involved several vehicles, including those transporting NCP members of parliament Mahmuda Mitu and Atikur Rahman Mojahid, as well as cars carrying members of seven families of the fallen. During the commotion, unidentified individuals pelted the convoy with soft drink bottles, shattering the rear windshield of the vehicle carrying Alam.
