A 25-year-old man sustained life-altering injuries on Wednesday after being struck by a train while filming a video on the railway tracks near Dohazari station in Chandanaish, Chittagong. The victim, Morshed Alam, a resident of Satkania’s Khagaria union, suffered severe trauma, including crushed feet and the amputation of several fingers on his left hand.

According to Dohazari station master Neshar Ullah, the accident occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m. as a Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) oil train was maneuvering into a local depot. Alam, who was accompanied by his wife and infant child, had positioned himself on the siding line to record video footage.

Rail officials reported that the train’s engine was positioned at the rear, pushing the carriages forward. Although the driver repeatedly sounded the horn and siren to warn pedestrians, the family remained preoccupied with their filming and failed to notice the approaching locomotive. When they finally realized the danger, they were unable to clear the tracks in time, resulting in the collision.

Local residents and railway staff rushed to the scene immediately following the impact and transported Alam to Dohazari Hospital via rickshaw. Dr. Muhammad Rakibul Hasan, who treated the victim, described his condition as critical. Following initial emergency care, Alam was transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for advanced surgical intervention.
