Law Minister Asaduzzaman Defends Appointment of Humayun Kabir as State Minister for Foreign Affairs

Law Minister Anisul Huq defended the appointment of Humayun Kabir as State Minister for Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, asserting that the selection was conducted in full compliance with the constitution. Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, Huq dismissed allegations that the appointment violated legal standards regarding Kabir’s status as a technocrat minister.
Addressing concerns surrounding Kabir’s dual citizenship, the Law Minister maintained that the government adhered to all constitutional requirements during the appointment process. He emphasized that the transition, including the renunciation of British citizenship prior to taking the oath of office, was handled in accordance with the law.
Huq reiterated that there were no irregularities in the appointment, confirming that the government had satisfied all necessary legal provisions before proceeding with the swearing-in ceremony.
