Fisheries and Livestock Minister Amin Ur Rashid Pledges Enhanced Market Support and Preservation Initiatives for Livestock Farmers

Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has underscored the need for a robust value chain to ensure fair prices for livestock farmers, citing frequent financial losses due to inadequate market returns. The minister emphasized that effective measures must be established across all stages of production, including packaging, processing, and marketing.
Addressing a ceremony at the Gazaria Upazila Parishad auditorium in Munshiganj on Wednesday, Rashid noted that the government is prepared to provide assistance for the establishment of small-scale local packaging and processing facilities to support farmers.
The minister’s remarks came during the concluding session of a two-day training program for beneficiaries of an integrated livestock development project. The project covers riverine areas across several districts, including Manikganj, Dhaka, Munshiganj, Rajbari, Faridpur, Madaripur, and Shariatpur. The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock officially detailed the proceedings in a subsequent press release.
Highlighting the importance of conserving aquatic resources, Rashid announced plans to develop systematic fish sanctuaries in government-owned water bodies across the country. He stated that these sanctuaries will serve as secure habitats for fish during the dry season and facilitate breeding and population growth during the monsoon.
The minister urged local residents to cooperate with government initiatives to ensure the long-term success of these conservation efforts.
