In Narsingdi’s Shivpur, a teacher was accused of being attacked for not agreeing to teach privately. The teacher fell unconscious after being punched by three teenagers. The police have arrested two people in connection with the incident. The incident took place in front of the gate of Chowgharia Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan Adarsh ​​Vidyapeeth on Thursday morning.

The name of the injured teacher is Manzil Mollah (32). He is an assistant teacher of English at Chowgharia Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan Adarsh ​​Vidyapeeth of upazila. His house is in Hatirdia area of ​​neighboring Manohardi upazila.

According to the police, the arrested persons are Rashidul Islam (26) and Emon Mia (20) of Pubergaon village of Shibpur Upazila’s Chakradha Union. The identity of another juvenile involved in the incident was not immediately known.

According to the school sources, Manzil Mollah was in the school yesterday around 10:30 am. At that time, three teenagers called him in front of the school gate. At one stage of the conversation, they started punching him. At one point, when he fell unconscious, the assailants fled. Later the school staff rescued him and took him inside and gave him first aid.

The victim teacher said he was called and asked to tutor a teenager privately. When he did not agree due to lack of time, they got angry and started beating him. At one point he became unconscious.

The students became angry in this incident. They caught one of the attackers from home and brought him to the school. Later the police came and arrested another person. At that time, the agitated students vandalized a police car. On getting the news, the upazila administration officials, local political party leaders and public representatives went to the spot and assured the justice of the people involved. The situation calmed down.

Nazrul Islam Mridha, head teacher of the school, said that the agitating students calmed down after the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) assured them of a fair trial. Exemplary punishment has been demanded for those involved in the attack on the teacher.

UNO Farzana Yasmin said this incident happened due to a dispute over private teaching. Legal action is being taken against those involved.

Shibpur police station officer-in-charge (OC) Kohinoor Mia said that a case has been registered against two accused in the incident, and operations are underway to arrest other people involved.
