Human chain of students demanding justice for the murder of college student Saidul in Barisal

Saidul Islam alias Sajeeb, a fourth-year graduate student of Government Barisal College’s management department, has been human chained to demand the quick arrest and trial of those involved in the murder. The students formed a human chain in front of the main gate of the college on Monday afternoon.

The speakers in the human chain expressed their anger and said that the police have so far arrested only one of the eight accused. They questioned how the main killer Milan Khan is still absconding. In a human chain, the students demanded that the people involved in the murder be quickly arrested and brought to justice.

Saidul Islam’s father, Abul Hossain Khan, said that on the morning of March 29, he started the construction of a shop on the land adjacent to their homestead in Lochanabad village of Rangashri union of Bakerganj upazila. At that time, Milan Khan, a resident of the same village, ambushed 8-10 mercenaries with sharp weapons and sticks and attacked and vandalized them. His younger son Saidul Islam was injured in the attack. He was first taken to Upazila Health Complex and later to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal. When the condition worsened, the doctor on duty sent him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Saidul died there on the night of March 31 while undergoing treatment.

Bakerganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khandkar KM Sohel Rana told Prothom Alo today that the accused number 2 in the case has been arrested so far. Efforts are on to arrest the rest of the accused.
