Human chain of student power in DU to protest against border killings and child deaths due to measles

Jatiya Chhatra Shakti has formed a human chain at Dhaka University (DU) to protest the killings at the border, mismanagement of measles vaccination and child deaths. On Monday afternoon, the Dhaka University branch of the organization held this program at the foot of the university’s Raju sculpture.
The leaders and workers of Chhatra Shakti raised slogans like ‘Children die in hospitals, what is the government doing’, ‘People are dying at the border, what is the government doing’, ‘Delhi not Dhaka, Dhaka Dhaka’ etc.

Apart from this, placards were seen in the hands of Chhatra Shakti leaders and workers saying ‘Must take responsibility for the failure to prevent and cure measles’, ‘How many Felani’s bodies will be in Bangladesh’, ‘Stop border killing’, ‘Government must take responsibility for 400 child deaths due to measles’.
Tahmid Al Mudassir Chowdhury, president of the Dhaka University branch of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti in Manabbandhan, said that even after four months of coming to power, the current government has not kept its promise to rid the country of mobs.

Expressing anger over the death of children in the measles epidemic, Tahmid said, “We demand from the government that the cause of the measles outbreak be found out quickly through an independent commission.” The existing problems should be resolved by declaring emergency in the health sector very quickly.
Expressing concern over the Bangladesh-India border situation, the Chhatra Shakti leader also said that the new government of India’s West Bengal is ordering its border guard force BSF to create tension on the Bangladesh border. He called the Bangladesh government’s silence on the killing of Bangladeshi citizens on the border and India’s aggressive policy as a ‘kneeling foreign policy’.
Asia Akhter, the senior vice-president of the Dhaka University branch of Chhatra Shakti said, ‘After the July coup, the people of the country expected Bangladesh to adopt an independent, sovereign and self-reliant foreign policy. Shame on the “kneeling” policy of the current elected government despite the interim government maintaining it.’
At that time, Asia Akhtar said, “We have not seen any activities of the advisor who was given the responsibility in the health sector during the interim government. BNP has maintained the same trend. So far we have not seen any kind of action or action or any statement of the health minister that they installed.
Mohammad Saifullah, organizing secretary of Dhaka University branch of Chhatra Shakti, said that those who had raised the slogan ‘Bangladesh first’ before the elections, today have closed their mouths about border killings. From their behavior it seems that Delhi came first for them.
