Health Minister Accuses Residual Fascist Elements of Orchestrating Artificial Crises to Undermine Government

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain has accused associates of the ousted fascist regime of orchestrating artificial crises to undermine the current interim government. Speaking at an administrative coordination meeting in Manikganj on Monday, the minister alleged that these elements initially manufactured a fuel shortage by mobilizing motorcycles to exhaust pump supplies, a situation the government resolved within a week through strict intervention.

Addressing the ongoing fertilizer shortage, Minister Hossain stated that despite adequate national reserves, remnants of the previous regime’s dealer network are deliberately disrupting supply chains to damage the government’s reputation. To counter this, the government, under the guidance of the Prime Minister, has initiated the appointment of new fertilizer dealers in every union across the country.

Regarding the energy sector, the minister attributed gas and electricity supply issues to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East affecting Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) imports. He announced that the government has secured high-cost LNG shipments to restore the operations of nine to 10 power plants by next week. Looking ahead, the administration has unveiled a three-year roadmap to expand solar energy infrastructure, including installing solar panels on rooftops and utilizing non-agricultural land in Jamalpur and Habiganj. The goal is to generate several thousand megawatts of solar power within five years to compensate for the country’s limited fossil fuel and coal resources.

During the session, held at the Manikganj Deputy Commissioner’s office, the minister also unveiled a national public health initiative. He announced plans to establish health and wellbeing centers in every union to ensure integrated physical, mental, and social healthcare. The government intends to recruit 42,390 health workers to provide grassroots support, with a specific focus on early detection of diseases such as breast cancer to reduce mortality rates among marginalized communities.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Najmun Ara Sultana and featured contributions from Food Minister and Member of Parliament for Manikganj-3 Afroza Khanam, as well as lawmakers S.A. Jinnah Kabir and Moinul Islam Khan. Other notable attendees included Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sarwar Alam, Government Pleader Nurtaj Alam Bahar, along with various senior administrative officials and representatives from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
