Gallery of Jatiya Sangsad is named after Bir Shrestha

Various galleries of Jatiya Sangsad have been renamed after Bir Shreshthas who made outstanding contribution in the Great Liberation War. Such nameplates were seen in the galleries on Wednesday.

Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon told Prothom Alo that earlier the names of the galleries were determined on a general or geographical basis. This naming has been done on the advice of Prime Minister Tariq Rahman. As a result of the new name, each gallery of the Sangsad Bhavan is now associated with the glorious history of the Liberation War. It is an important step to show deep respect and gratitude to the best children of the nation.

The names of seven Bir Shrestha are now included in the new name plaques installed inside the Parliament building. These are Bir Shrestha Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir Gallery, Bir Shrestha Sepoy Hamidur Rahman Gallery, Bir Shrestha Sepoy Mustafa Kamal Gallery, Bir Shrestha Lance Naik Noor Mohammad Sheikh Gallery, Bir Shrestha Engine Room Artificer Mohammad Ruhul Amin Gallery, Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Gallery and Bir Shrestha Lance. Naik Munshi Abdur Rauf Gallery.

Atiqur Rahman Rumon said, the history of the liberation war has been preserved in a more visible and institutional way by installing this plaque in the National Parliament. This initiative will play an important role in conveying the spirit of liberation war to the new generation. Besides, the sense of respect for the heroes of the freedom struggle of the country will be strengthened among the visitors coming to the parliament.
