BMDA official suspended for criticizing post on Facebook

An official of Varendra Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) has been suspended for posting on Facebook critical of his organization. An office order issued on Tuesday informed him of his dismissal.
The officer’s name is Sabbir Rahman. He is Deputy Assistant Engineer, IT Wing, BMDA Head Office.
According to the office order, Sabbir Rahman posted on his Facebook account on May 10, “Finally, the office has become a political office!!!! Masha Allah!!!!!’ wrote a post. The post went viral on Facebook and caught the eye of the BMDA chairman. It is mentioned in the order that the reputation of the organization including the chairman has been tarnished. He has been accused of misconduct in this incident. As per 37 (b) of BMDA Officer-Employee Employment Rules, 1993 and 3 (b) of Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, this action has been taken as his activities are unethical and against discipline.
The office order also informed that he has been suspended from May 12. During dismissal he will get food allowance as per prevailing rules. At the same time he has been attached to the Rajshahi circle office. The order was signed by the executive director of BMDA, Abu Saeed. Kamruzzaman.
In this regard, Sabbir Rahman told Prothom Alo, “It was given by posting on Facebook. I got it too. I have not received any show cause notice.
Earlier, on May 5, Hasan Zafir, president of the central committee of the Krishak Dal, was appointed as the chairman of the BMDA on a contractual basis for one year.
