Fire breaks out at commercial building in Dhaka’s Chawkbazar

A fire broke out Saturday afternoon at a commercial building in the Chawkbazar area of Dhaka, prompting an immediate emergency response. The blaze originated on the third floor of the five-story Ashik Tower, located within the Khaja Market complex.
According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence media cell, the agency received the initial report of the fire at 1:34 p.m. Two firefighting units from the Lalbagh station arrived at the scene by 1:46 p.m. to begin suppression efforts.

Authorities have since expanded the response, with four additional units from the Siddique Bazar fire station currently en route to assist in containing the fire. The extent of the damage and the cause of the incident remain under investigation.
