SSC candidate dies after being hit by an autorickshaw in Noakhali

An SSC examinee was killed after being hit by a speeding CNG autorickshaw in Begamganj, Noakhali. Another examinee was seriously injured in this incident. The incident took place in front of Begumganj Government Technical School and College at around 11:30 on Wednesday.

The name of the deceased student is Tanmoy Kuri. He was a student of Choumuhani Delta Jute Mill High School in Begumganj Upazila. He was appearing for the current SSC examination. His father’s name is Karthik Kuri. The name of the candidate injured in this incident is Jeet Debnath. He is an SSC (Vocational) candidate of Begumganj Government Technical School and College.

Meanwhile, when the news of Tanmoy’s death spread, classmates and local residents got angry and blocked the Chaumuhani-Maijdi highway around 3 pm. At that time, they burnt tires and left different furniture on the road and stopped the traffic. Later, the situation was normalized when the blockade was lifted around 4:30 pm with the assurance of the administration.

According to eyewitnesses and educational institution sources, Tanmoy and Jeet went out for a walk as there was no SSC exam today. While crossing the road in front of Begumganj Government Technical School and College, they were hit by a speeding CNG auto rickshaw going from Chaumuhani to Maijdi. Both were seriously injured. Later, the local people rescued him and took him to the hospital, and the doctor suggested sending Tanmoy to Dhaka. But he died on the way around two o’clock. Injured Jeet is undergoing treatment at Noakhali’s 250-bed General Hospital.

Begumganj Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shamsuzzaman said that the students blocked the road after the accident. They later withdrew after identifying the autorickshaws involved and promising to take legal action. Further action will be taken based on the complaint of the family in this incident.
