Investigating officer and Sub-Inspector of Sutrapur Police Station, Md. Russell Molla, had initially requested a seven-day remand to facilitate the investigation. The case was formally registered on August 20, following a complaint filed by Sub-Inspector Osman.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on the afternoon of August 19, when officers conducted a raid at Bhuiyan Motors, located in the Nazimuddin Baro Bhuiyan Market on Northbrook Hall Road. Police allege that Zaki Ullah Bahar, who is also an accused in a separate case filed at Turag Police Station, entered the shop accompanied by eight to nine individuals.

Authorities claim that two individuals in the group were carrying shopping bags. When questioned by police, they abandoned the bags and fled the premises. Upon searching the bags, officers recovered two homemade pipe guns and two rounds of live 12-bore ammunition. Additionally, police seized three mobile phones and a 64GB flash drive containing CCTV footage from the scene.

In his remand petition, the investigating officer stated that the accused had been conspiring to misappropriate the property and assets of Hafiz Ullah Bhuiyan, the owner of Bhuiyan Motors. Investigators believe the group planted the weapons in the shop to implicate the owner in a false arms case.

The police further alleged that the suspects arrived at the scene in a white Pajero vehicle to facilitate the plot. Officials stated that custodial interrogation is essential to identify the remaining suspects, trace the source of the recovered weapons, and uncover the full scope of the conspiracy.
