Bangladesh Supreme Court Bans Judicial Officers From Commercial Coaching Activities

The Supreme Court of Bangladesh has issued a formal directive prohibiting members of the Bangladesh Judicial Service from participating, either directly or indirectly, in commercial coaching activities conducted via in-person or digital platforms. The circular, signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiqui, was issued by the High Court Division on Monday.

The directive aims to uphold the professional discipline, impartiality, and dignity of judges while maintaining public confidence in the judiciary. Under the new mandate, judicial officers are strictly barred from engaging in any commercial coaching programs. Furthermore, the use of a judge’s name, designation, photograph, or professional identity for the commercial promotion of such coaching services is explicitly forbidden.

The circular also prohibits the disclosure, supply, or utilization of any confidential, unpublished, or official information acquired during the course of judicial duties within any coaching environment.

Additionally, members of the judicial service are prohibited from preparing, editing, publishing, or distributing educational materials specifically for commercial coaching purposes. The Supreme Court has warned that any violation of these instructions will result in disciplinary action against the concerned individual in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
