Case against Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal leaders on rape charges, the victim is from outside the area

In Tangail’s Gopalpur, a youth party leader has been accused of raping a young woman. And the Chhatra Dal leader has been accused of recording the rape video on his mobile phone. The victim has filed a case against these two leaders and three others. Meanwhile, after filing the case, the young woman left the area and went into hiding after being threatened by the accused.
The name of the Jubo Dal leader who was accused of rape is Dulal Uddin alias Ravan (40). He is the joint convener of Gopalpur Upazila Jubo Dal and former member secretary of Upazila Truck Owners Association. The person who captured the scene of the rape is Roman Ahmed (30), the suspended committee president of Gopalpur Upazila Chhatra Dal. Their house is in Abhangi area of Gopalpur municipality. A woman has also been accused in the case. She owns a beauty parlor in Gopalpur Sadar.

The statement of the case and talking to the young woman (22) revealed that she was raped twice on February 1 and April 1. She used to go to a beauty parlor to get dressed. Then he developed a good relationship with the lady owner of that parlor. On February 1, the owner of the parlor called the girl saying that he had something important to say. After entering the parlor around 10 am, he saw Jubo Dal leader Dulal Uddin and Chhatra Dal leader Roman. At that time, the lady owner of the parlor came out and closed the door. Later, Dulal Uddin took out a knife and threatened her and forcibly raped her. At that time, Chhatra Dal leader Roman captured the rape scene and naked pictures of the young woman on his mobile phone. After the rape, he threatened to spread the nude photos of the girl on social media if she told anyone about the incident.
Then Dulal Uddin called the girl to a pond in Gopalpur around 8 pm on April 1. He said that he will delete the video in front of him when he goes there. When the girl went there, Dulal Uddin raped her again by threatening her with the help of another person. Later he threatened to go when called, otherwise he would spread nude pictures on social media.

Talked to the young woman in Tangail court area today on Wednesday afternoon. He said that after the second round of rape, he tried to commit suicide. He was admitted to Gopalpur Upazila Health Complex. At that time Dulal Uddin went there and threatened him not to file a case.
On April 3, the young woman went to Gopalpur police station to file a case, but the police did not take the case then. Later, on April 13, the young woman filed a case as a plaintiff in the Tangail Women and Children Suppression Tribunal. Court judge ANM Elias directed the OC of Gopalpur police station to record the complaint as a statement. Later, Gopalpur police station registered the case on April 15.
The young woman complained that despite the case, the police are not arresting the accused. Accused being politically influential are threatening him in various ways. He has left the area and is hiding due to insecurity. The accused are also threatening his family members. In the face of their pressure and threats, the family members also went against the young woman. They are pushing to settle the case.
Attempts were made to contact Dulal Uddin and Roman on their mobile phones to inquire about the complaint. But their mobile phones were found switched off.
The investigating officer of the case Gopalpur Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Salahuddin said, the victim’s medical examination has been done. Report not yet available. Investigation is ongoing.
Zahid Hossain, Acting Member Secretary of Tangail District Nationalist Youth Party, said that he is not aware of the case against Gopalpur Upazila Branch Joint Convener Dulal Uddin. District Chhatra Dal convener Durjoy Hor (Shubh) said that the committee of Gopalpur Upazila Chhatra Dal was suspended last December due to its involvement in anti-discipline activities. The new committee has not been given yet.
