Body of young woman found in USTC, killed by being thrown from roof for not responding to love proposal

The police have solved the mystery of the death of Rita Akhter (19) who fell from the high building of the University of Science and Technology (USTC), a private university in Chittagong city. The police investigation revealed that the young woman was a victim of murder. Khulshi police station has arrested one person in this incident. His name is Abdur Rahman Sheikh (21). He was arrested from Badamatali area of Feni on Monday morning. The police said that the young woman was killed by being thrown from the roof for not responding to the love proposal.
Earlier, the police recovered Rita Akhter’s body from the USTC campus last Saturday night. In this incident, the girl’s mother Jamila Begum filed a murder case at the police station. His house is in Baniachang police station of Habiganj. He lived in Pahartali CDA Market area of the city and worked in a garment factory.
According to the police, the young woman met Abdur Rahman while working in the same company. Abdur Rahman lost his job due to a fight three-four months ago. He had been harassing the young woman with love proposals at various times. He took the girl to the Foy’s Lake area after the garment holiday on Saturday night. Later, he was taken to the fifth floor of the emergency building of the USTC hospital on the pretext of having an important talk. Abdur Rahman pushed the girl down at one stage of the conversation.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulshi Police Station Arifur Rahman told Prothom Alo that the accused was arrested from Badamtali area under Sonagazi Model Police Station in Feni district based on secret information. The operation to identify and arrest others involved in the incident is continuing. At the same time, all aspects of the case are being looked into and investigation is ongoing.
