Argentina fan turns passenger bus into mobile tribute to Lionel Messi

A vibrant blue-and-white bus, reminiscent of the Argentine national team’s iconic kit, has become a focal point of local fascination as it commutes daily between Nalitabari in Sherpur and the capital, Dhaka. Emblazoned with massive murals of superstar Lionel Messi on both flanks, the vehicle has transformed from a standard mode of public transport into a rolling tribute to football passion.
The bus departs Nalitabari for Dhaka’s Mohakhali terminal every day at noon and completes the return trip at 8:00 p.m. Since its debut on the route, the vehicle has consistently drawn crowds of onlookers. Commuters and pedestrians frequently stop to capture photographs and videos, many of which have circulated widely across social media platforms, turning the bus into a viral sensation.
For local supporters, the bus represents more than just a decorative choice; it serves as a shared expression of team loyalty. Residents have noted that while painting homes or waving flags is common during tournament seasons, the scale of this project has set a new precedent for local enthusiasm. Supporters in the region have expressed a collective desire to prioritize this specific bus for their travels as a gesture of solidarity with their sporting idols.
Bus owner Golam Kibria, a lifelong supporter of Argentina, conceived the project to channel the heightened national excitement surrounding football. According to Kibria, the initiative was designed to share the joy of the game with the wider community. He emphasizes that while team allegiances may vary among passengers, the project serves as a reminder of how sports can bridge divides and bring people together through a common narrative of excitement and spectacle.
