The youth of Kishoreganj went to war against Ukraine for the Russian army. Riyad Rashid (28). He was killed by an enemy drone attack. A friend of his in the same camp in the Russian army reported this news.

Riyad Rashid is the son of Abdur Rashid, a resident of Mazhirkona village of Jafrabad Union, Karimganj Upazila of District. The news of his death cast a shadow of mourning in the house.

According to family sources, Limon Dutt, the friend of Riyad Rashid, who died yesterday evening at seven in the evening, reported the news of his death on the social media Facebook messenger. Limon Dutt, a resident of Narsingdi district, was in the same army camp with Riyad in Russia.

Riyad’s cousin Zahirul Islam said that Limon Dutt, a friend of the deceased Riyad, told them that on May 2, a drone attack took place on the border of Ukraine controlled by Russia. Two Bangladeshis and one Nigerian soldier were killed in this incident. Three others were injured. Limon Dutt himself lost a leg in the attack and is undergoing treatment in a hospital there. Limon told the family after confirming Riyad Rashid’s death yesterday.

Research revealed that Riyad is the fourth among five brothers and sisters. He went to Russia to work in an organization in October 2024. On April 7, Riyad and many other Bangladeshis joined the Russian army. His batch number is 735.

Cousin Zahirul Islam also said that the family had their last talk with Riyad Rashid on April 28. Riyad Rashid’s body has not been found yet. They can’t understand what to do in this situation.

Riyad Rashid’s father Abdur Rashid, a former teacher of Jaffrabad High School in the upazila, said in a tearful voice, “Riyad did not tell me about joining the army.” Had I known, I would never have let my son join. I can’t find my son’s body. It has been wiped out by the drone attack. As a father, how will I bear this pain?
