A.League workers doused the BNP leader in water

An Awami League worker named Sohel has been accused of torturing Madan Upazila BNP leader Mehedi Hasan Shafiq by immersing him in water. Victim Mehedi Hasan Akand Shafiq Upazila BNP Social Welfare Affairs Secretary.
In this incident, Mehedi Hasan filed a written complaint against some Awami League workers at the police station.
Madan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasnat Zaman confirmed the complaint on Monday (March 30).
Earlier, Mehdi Hasan filed a complaint at the police station on Friday.
According to the complaint and local sources, Mehdi Hasan Akand Shafiq went to cut grass on the land in front of his house. Both sides claim this land as theirs. Both sides are conflicted about this. At one stage, Sohail and his brothers tortured Mehedi Hasan by drowning him in water. Later the people around rescued him and took him to the health complex.
Written complaint of the same village. Sohail (35) his brother. Kayes (28), Kausar (30) and Md. Sagar (22) has been made an accused. All of them are said to be workers of Awami League.
In protest of this incident, local BNP leaders and activists held a protest march in Madan city on Sunday.
Accused Sohel Mia said, Mehdi Hasan was cutting grass in my cultivated land. I block it. After that I and my brothers had a fight with him. The allegation of torture by drowning him in water is false.
Hasnat Zaman, OC of Madan police station, said that he has received a written complaint in this regard. Necessary action will be taken subject to investigation.
