United States Provides 2.4 Million Dollars in Medical Equipment to Strengthen Maternal and Child Healthcare in Bangladesh

The United States is providing 2.4 million U.S. dollars, equivalent to approximately 293.28 million taka, in medical equipment and supplies to the Bangladeshi Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to strengthen maternal, newborn, and child healthcare services across the country.

The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka announced the contribution in a press release issued by embassy spokesperson Purnima Rai on Monday.

The aid package includes specialized equipment designed to provide warmth and respiratory support for newborns. It also features therapeutic food for children suffering from severe acute malnutrition and supplies necessary to maintain the cold chain integrity of vaccines.

These medical supplies are being distributed to hospitals and health centers nationwide, including those in remote, hard-to-reach areas, through partnerships with FHI 360, Jhpiego, JSI, and UNICEF.

As part of the initiative, U.S. Ambassador Brent Te Christensen officially handed over training models focused on maternal and newborn health to Civil Surgeon Mohammad Mizanur Rahman at the Panchagarh District Hospital.

According to the embassy, this assistance reinforces Bangladesh’s healthcare system through practical partnership while advancing the “America First Global Health Strategy” by promoting U.S. innovation in the health sector. The United States remains committed to working alongside the Bangladeshi government to expand access to quality healthcare services across the country.
