After the death of Salman Shah on September 6, 1996, a case of wrongful death was registered in Ramna police station. However, on October 20 last year, Dhaka’s sixth additional metropolitan session judge Md. Jannatul Ferdous Ibn Haque allowed the revision made by the plaintiff and ordered to treat the case as a murder case. Then on October 21, Salman Shah’s uncle Mohammad Alamgir filed a murder case at Ramna police station. Accused 11 was charged under Section 302/34 of the Penal Code.

Salman Shah’s uncle Mohammad Alamgir alleged that on September 6, 1996, his sister Nilufar Zaman Chowdhury (Neela Chowdhury), her sister’s husband Qamar Uddin Ahmad Chowdhury and their younger son Shahran Shah went to meet Salman Shah at his New Iskaton residence. When they went there, they found out that Salman was sleeping. After some time production manager Salim called and said that something has happened to Salman. Then they quickly returned home to find that Salman was lying frozen in the bedroom and some foreign women were massaging oil on his hands and feet. Sarira’s relative Ruby was sitting in the next room.

He said Salman’s mother screamed and requested him to be taken to the hospital. On the way they saw rope marks around Salman’s neck and blue marks on his face and legs. They first took Salman Shah to Holy Family Hospital. When he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital from there, the doctor on duty said that Salman Shah died a long time ago. After the death of Salman’s father, he is handling the case on behalf of his sister.

Mohammad Alamgir also mentioned in the statement that before his death, Salman’s father Qamar Uddin Ahmad Chowdhury filed a petition in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on July 24, 1997, suspecting his son’s death to be murder. In this, he requested that the death case of Ramna police station be accepted as a murder case under Section 302/34 of the Penal Code and be investigated by the CID.

If any of the accused in the case dies, they will be absolved from the liability of the case subject to proof. It has been mentioned in the allegation that the accused and the unnamed fugitives killed Salman Shah in pre-planned and connivance with each other.

The accused in the case are — Salman Shah’s wife Samira Haque, film producer Aziz Mohammad Bhai, actor Don, Latifa Haque Luchi, Debit, Javed, Farooq, Ruby of May-fair Beauty Centre, Abdus Chatter, Saju and Rezvi Ahmed Farhad. Apart from this, many other unknown persons have been accused in the case.
