Renowned Bangladeshi filmmaker FI Manik hospitalized following severe road accident in Dhaka

Renowned Bangladeshi filmmaker FI Manik is undergoing medical treatment after sustaining serious injuries in a road accident in Dhaka.

The incident occurred while the director was returning to his residence in Niketon late at night. According to reports, as he was navigating his vehicle past the Begunbari intersection near Hatirjheel, a high-speed vehicle struck his car from behind, causing him to be thrown onto the road.

Colleague Orpub Rana reported that the filmmaker sustained multiple injuries, including a suspected fracture to his left arm and various lacerations across his body. He was immediately transported to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for emergency care.

Director Mostafizur Rahman Manik confirmed that the filmmaker has received initial medical attention. Physicians are currently awaiting the results of X-rays and other diagnostic tests to determine the full extent of his internal injuries and confirm if any additional bones were fractured in the collision.

FI Manik rose to prominence during the 1990s and early 2000s as a prolific filmmaker, defining a significant era in the local film industry. His career is marked by several commercially successful and widely acclaimed productions, including “Shopner Basor,” “Koti Takar Kabin,” “Phool Nebo Na Oru Nebo,” “Chachu,” and “Dadima.”
