Popular Drama Eta Amaderi Golpo Concludes

DHAKA – The acclaimed Bangladeshi drama series “Eta Amader-i Golpo” (This Is Our Story), widely celebrated for revitalizing family-centric narratives on television, is officially concluding its broadcast after a nearly seven-month run. Director Muhammad Mostofa Kamal Raz announced the popular show’s impending end at a press conference held on Saturday, April 18, attended by key cast and crew members.
The drama, which premiered on November 5, 2023, quickly garnered a significant following for its heartwarming portrayal of family dynamics. It aired twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9:30 PM, on Channel i, and was subsequently made available for streaming on Cinemawala’s YouTube channel. Its success is often cited as a turning point for family-oriented storytelling on the country’s television screens.
The cast, which includes prominent actors such as Khairul Bashar, Irfan Sajjad, Keya Payel, Sunerah Binte Kamal, Intekhab Dinar, Dipa Khandakar, Monira Akter Mithu, Nader Chowdhury, Shilpi Sarkar Opu, Dikon Noor, and Mahmudul Islam Mithu, shared their reflections on the journey.
Actress Keya Payel expressed profound satisfaction with her involvement, stating that the project fulfilled her desire to create work that would resonate with audiences for a long time. She added that even if she were to stop acting tomorrow, her role in “Eta Amader-i Golpo” would leave her with no regrets. Dipa Khandakar echoed the sentiment of a fulfilling, seven-month endeavor, noting that the show had completed seven production lots. She reiterated her initial belief that audiences craved family stories and left it to them to gauge the drama’s acceptance.
Khairul Bashar described the experience as exceptional, highlighting the close-knit, family-like bond forged among the cast and crew over the months. He admitted to often becoming emotional as a viewer and revealed that many fans now recognize him by his character’s name, Samir, a recognition he hopes will endure. Irfan Sajjad conveyed a sense of sadness as the show nears its technical wrap-up, expressing uncertainty about the return of the set or the story, and acknowledging he would deeply miss his colleagues and the dedicated viewership.
