‘My world has become empty’ Runa Laila after the death of Asha Bhosle

The demise of legendary musician Asha Bhosle has cast a deep shadow over the music scene of the subcontinent. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday (April 12) afternoon. He was 92 years old at the time of his death. 

Bangladesh’s renowned singer Runa Laila expressed grief over his death. In deep grief and emotional response, he told the media, “It seems that my world has become empty.”

Runa Laila said, the passing away of two legends like Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle is an irreparable loss for the music world.

Recalling his personal relationship, he says, ‘Both of them loved me very much—like a mother. This pain cannot be expressed in words. The last time we met was during the recording of my composed song ‘Gone Waves No Return’. After that there was phone contact, but for some time I was thinking to talk again. I will do it today, I will do it tomorrow – this thought is no longer done. The last word was not said.

Asha Bhosle was a shining star in the music history of the subcontinent. He has enthralled generation after generation by presenting numerous popular songs for eight decades. He was admitted to the hospital on Saturday (April 11) due to heart and breathing problems. A day later, he crossed over to the land of no return.
