Asha Bhosle gave voice to Bangladeshi movie songs

Asha Bhosle is a legendary vocalist of the Indian subcontinent. In a music career spanning eight decades, he has sung in a total of 20 languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Russian and even Malay. The number of his recorded songs is about 11 to 12 thousand. 

Among so many songs, this empress voiced the song of Dhakai movie. It has impressed generations after generations. His songs in several Bangladeshi-Indian joint production films released in the eighties are still particularly memorable to music lovers.  

Asha Bhosle sang the song ‘Nagar Amar Kacha Pirit’ in the movie ‘Avichar’, a joint production of Bangladesh and India. His co-singer in this song was India’s Shailendra Singh. 

Released in 1985, this film was directed by Syed Hasan Imam and Shakti Samant. The lyrics are written by Gauri Prasanna Majumdar and music is composed by renowned music director RD Burman. 

She sang the song ‘Mayabi Ae Neshay’ in this movie directed by Pramod Chakraborty. Another song titled ‘Tore Anchle’ was sung by his elder sister Lata Mangeshkar in the same film. The lyrics are written by Gauri Prasanna Majumder and composed by RD Burman.

He was awarded ‘Padma Shri’ (1997), ‘Padma Vibhushan’ (2008) and ‘Dadasaheb Phalke’ award by the Government of India for his outstanding contribution to music.
