Dhaka Metropolitan Police Arrest 53 Awami League Members in Bhatara Raid

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 53 leaders and activists affiliated with the banned Awami League and its associated organizations in the capital’s Bhatara area on Thursday night. The detainees were apprehended during a raid on a building located within the Bashundhara Residential Area.
According to a press statement released by the DMP, the individuals had gathered to coordinate a meeting and organize a flash protest in observance of National Mourning Day on August 15. Authorities reported that the group was carrying placards and banners while chanting slogans deemed to be anti-state.
The Bhatara Police Station confirmed that the operation was conducted to disrupt the unauthorized assembly. Officials stated that legal proceedings against the 53 individuals are currently underway.
The DMP emphasized that its various units are maintaining rigorous surveillance and conducting regular operations across the city to ensure public safety and preserve law and order.
