Police officer found dead inside washroom at Coxs Bazar refugee camp

The body of a police officer was discovered in the washroom of an Armed Police Battalion (APBn) camp in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, on Saturday morning. Authorities recovered the body of 31-year-old Rubel Hossain, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) stationed at the Irani Pahar camp under the 14th APBn, after breaking down the door.
According to APBn officials, the officer was first reported missing during a roll call on Friday afternoon. Fellow officers conducted a search of the facility and attempted to contact him by phone, but he remained unreachable.
The discovery was made at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Saturday after a camp cook, identified as Sharif, noticed that the washroom door had been locked for an extended period. After receiving no response to his calls, the cook looked inside and observed someone lying on the floor, prompting him to alert his superiors.
The door was subsequently breached in the presence of 14th APBn Captain Siraj Amin, a team from the Ukhiya Police Station, and a medical professional. Upon examination, the on-site physician declared the officer dead.
Captain Siraj Amin confirmed the incident, stating that initial assessments suggest the officer may have suffered a stroke or a heart attack.
Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Atiqur Rahman Majumdar stated that officials believe the death was due to natural causes. The body has been sent to the morgue for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
