Bus crash on Chittagong-Coxs Bazar highway leaves 15 injured

At least 15 people were injured Sunday afternoon when a passenger bus returning from a picnic overturned on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in the Lohagara upazila of Chattogram.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. near the Lohar Dighir Par area. According to witnesses, the bus, operated by TR Travels, was carrying approximately 50 passengers back to Bogura following a trip to the coastal city of Cox’s Bazar. As the vehicle navigated a turn on the highway, the driver reportedly lost control, causing the bus to flip onto its side on the eastern shoulder of the road.
Local residents rushed to the scene immediately following the crash to assist with rescue efforts, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
Officer-in-Charge Salauddin Chowdhury of the Dohazari Highway Police Station confirmed that authorities arrived shortly after the accident to secure the area and seize the vehicle. While the bus remains in police custody, the driver fled the scene before officers could intervene. Police have launched an investigation and stated that formal legal action will be taken regarding the incident.
