According to police and local residents, a group of 10 to 12 armed individuals broke the lock on the gate of the family’s tin-shed house around 4:00 a.m. The perpetrators reportedly held residents of neighboring homes hostage to prevent interference before forcing their way inside the residence. When the family members attempted to resist and raised an alarm, the intruders attacked them with sharp weapons.

The assailants fled the scene as neighbors began to gather in response to the commotion. Kamrun Nahar Akter died at the scene, while her husband and daughter were rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Zakir Hossain stated that initial investigations suggest the attackers operated as a coordinated gang. He added that a crime scene unit has been dispatched to the residence to collect forensic evidence. Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
