Two arrested in connection with murder of former school teacher and family in Rangpur

Law enforcement authorities have detained two suspects in connection with the gruesome discovery of four bodies—a retired Rangpur Zila School teacher and his family—at their residence in the Mashuapara area of Rangpur city.
The detainees, identified as 23-year-old Siddhartha Das and 19-year-old Mugdho Das, were apprehended in the early hours of Sunday near the Dakshiniganj crematorium in Rangpur. Police have identified both individuals as known drug users from the local community. Abu Hasan Kabir, a police inspector with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Rangpur, confirmed the arrests.
The investigation follows the discovery on Saturday night of the bodies of 65-year-old Ganapati Chakraborty, his 50-year-old wife Pritilata Chakraborty, their 25-year-old daughter Agami Chakraborty, and their 13-year-old son Ayush Chakraborty. The victims were found inside their home in the Mashuapara neighborhood of the Kamal Kachna area. Authorities are continuing to investigate the motive and circumstances surrounding the deaths.
