Teacher arrested for raping 15-year-old student at Comilla madrasa

Police in Daudkandi, Comilla, have arrested a madrasa teacher on charges of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old student. The suspect, identified as Manjul Hassan, a resident of Chandpur Sadar, was taken into custody by Daudkandi Model Police on Friday morning and subsequently remanded to jail by a local court.
The investigation, based on statements provided by the victim and his family, reveals that the incident occurred at the madrasa’s residential facility. Police reported that on July 15, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Hassan allegedly summoned the student to his room under the pretense of being ill. Once the student arrived, the teacher reportedly sexually assaulted him and threatened the boy with death should he disclose the incident to anyone.
According to police, the suspect continued to target the student and subjected him to persistent abuse. Unable to endure the ongoing torment and trauma, the teenager attempted suicide in a room at the madrasa last Thursday. Madrasa authorities subsequently contacted the student’s family, who learned of the abuse upon their arrival at the institution.
The victim’s mother stated that her son had remained silent out of fear and intense shame. She expressed profound concern regarding the safety of students in the care of such individuals, noting that her son had been living in a state of extreme distress and insecurity since the assault began.
The student’s father filed a formal case at the Daudkandi Model Police Station in the early hours of Friday. Inspector (Investigation) Md. Shamsul Alam of the Daudkandi Model Police confirmed the arrest and the subsequent court order sending the teacher to jail.
